Knee pain is a common issue which can be caused by direct trauma from a fall, sporting injury or accident. Also, more chronic conditions that develop over time.

The knee is a complex hinge joint which is made up of three bones and two articulations. It is supported by a both intracapsular (with in the joint) and extra capsular (outside the joint) ligaments. There also two menisci, multiple bursae and various muscles and tendons that cross the joint. It is largest and arguably most stressed joint in the body.

Conditions causing knee pain include:
